is a magical landlocked kingdom sheltered by the huge range of the
mountains between 80.4’to 88.12’ longitude and between 26.22’to
30.27’ north latitude the total area of Nepal is 147181 square meters
and out of the areas of Nepal, about 83% of the land are covered
by the hills and mountains to the North and the rest consists of
the Terai region to the South. Even though Nepal is small country,
it displays a unique variety of geographical regions. The great
Himalayas across northern Nepal crowned by the highest peak of the
world Mt. Everest (8848m.) together with many other mountains. Enchantment
or attraction is everywhere and the combination of the artistic
creations of man and various natural environment, lends to Nepal
a charm and individuality that is unique and distinct.
The
population of Nepal is about 20,000,000. There are many different
customs and languages. Sherpa, Gurung, Tamang, Magar, Rai, Limbu,
Bramhan, Chhetri and Tharu are the main ethnic groups of Nepal.
The
major religion of Nepal are Hinduism and Buddhism. There are also
some Muslim and Christians. People are extremely religious and observe
from day to day the traditional customs and rites that both religious
commands. The glorious culture heritage of Nepal can be seen in
the diverse social customs an almost continuous festivals which
spill into the streets and squares of the cities. There is hardly
a day or place where we can’t see the enactment, however small. |
